To Configure a POP3 mail client (Outlook Express)

 

  1. Startup Outlook Express
  2. Go to Tools, Accounts – this should bring up the Internet Accounts Tab
  3. Select the Mail tab
  4. Click Add – this will bring up the Internet Connection Wizard
  5. Type your name – as it should appear in your email – Next button
  6. Let the default – I already have an email address button stay checked
  7. Type in your email – As it should appear in the return address in the form

Username@mail.nich.edu

  1. Type in the POP3 server name – mail.nicholls.edu
  2. Type in the outgoing SMTP server name – mail.nicholls.edu
  3. Click the next button
  4. Type in your account name – as you would login to NSUNET
  5. Type in your password – as you would login to NSUNET
  6. Click the next button
  7. Click the finish button
  8. Start Outlook Express
  9. Click on the Send/Recv button – this will start the mail transfer
  10. Please note that your mail will be removed from NSUNET unless you go into the configuration options and check that the mail should remain on the server.
