You may have to see Ms. Sherry (120 Powell Hall) or Ms. Cathy(119 Powell Hall) in person and for security reasons,
you must bring your University ID card.

How do I check my email from off campus?
All you need is an Internet connection to check your e-mail from off campus. Open your web browser and point it
to: http://webmail.nicholls.edu/. It may not work on some special browsers like AOL, so it is best to use Internet Explorer or Netscape.


How do I activate my account?
Fill out the user agreement form in any of the Open computer labs on-campus and your account will be activated within two
working day.
Where do I find out which labs have the software I need?
That information can be found on our Computer Lab Resources Section.
What labs can I use for chatting and listening to music?
Wac Lab is purely for academic usage purpose, no chating or listining to music is allowed in that lab. However, you can use Cenac and Ayo Lab
for chatting and listing to music. For more information on the lab policies refer to Computer Lab Policies Section.
Can I download and install programs on these computers?
No, you cannot. The security settings on the computers do not allow the installation of software applications without an administrator
password. If you need any software to use for your academic purpose, please e-mail to Ms. Sherry Rodrigue stating your reasons for the
use of the software and give your instructors reference.
Is there any limit on the size of my user drive?
Yes, each user is limited to 10MB of user space on the network.
Is there anyone to help me if I run into trouble using one of the lab computers?
Lab assistants and full-time professional staff are available during open hours to assist you with your computing needs at labs.
Can my children come in the lab with me?
Open labs are strictly restricted for students use only and they have to produce Nicholls ID to use the labs.


Does the University offer free training courses on computers and software applications?
Yes. Instructional Technology Support (ITS) provides a wide range of free training classes to all students of the University.

Is there someone who can come to my dorm room or off-campus residence to help me fix a computer problem?
No, at this time the ITS is not able to provide such services. But there will be Tech Support staff setup soon to address these problems in near future for dial-up services.

Can I access the college network or my user drive from off campus?
No. Due to the speeds required to generate all of the private and public folders across the network, it is impossible for a dial-up connection to be able
to receive all of this information in a timely manner. Therefore, the college restricts all network folders to on-site computers, connected to the network
via Ethernet.
How can I dial-in to the college from off campus?
Instructional Technology Services offers dial-in services for Students within the local area. For information on how to set-up the dial-in access on your computer,
please follow the instructions here.
How can I get a job at ITS?
ITS employs many students. Students are hired to assist in the daily operation of the labs as lab assistants and receptionist. If you are interested, you can pick up,
fill out, and drop off an application at the Wac Lab. Someone will review your application and may call you for an interview.
