ITS Configuring PPP for Windows NT

  1. Close all programs and log-in as Administrator.

  2. Click Start, go to Settings, and then to Control Panel. Double-click on Networks icon in the control pannel window.



  3. Click on the Protocols tab. If TCP/IP is not loaded, click ADD.

  4. Choose TCP/IP on the list and click Ok. If TCP/IP is loaded, click on Properties.

  5. A window will apper with four tabs.

  6. Under the IP address tab, check Obtain IP Address from server.



  7. Under the WINS Address tab, check the following:
    - Enable DNS for windows resolution.
    - Enable LMHOSTS Lookup.



  8. Under the Routing tab, leave the check box blank for Enable IP Forwarding. Then click Ok.



  9. Double click My Computer and then Dial-Up Networking.



  10. In the next screen. The wizard will ask for a name, type NSU-PPP. Then clcik Next.



  11. Check all three boxes in the next screen and then clcik Next.



  12. Refer to table below to enter the correct Phone Number to enter in this screen. Then click Next.



  13. Dial Up Number for Local Access.

    From Off-Campus: 448-4300
    From On-Campus : 4300

  14. Check the Point to Point Prototcol (PPP) connection and click Next.



  15. In the next window, check the None box, and click Next.



  16. Leave the IP address field blank and then clcik Next.



  17. Leave the DNS server and WINS fields blank and clcik Next.



  18. Click Finish.
